One Door Closes...




          We have all heard the saying When One Door Closes Another Door Opens.  But if you are like me then you know that waiting on that new door to open is not an easy thing to handle…especially when you don’t know or understand why the first door closed in the first place.

          This happened to me a couple weeks ago.  Walked into a meeting thinking it was for one thing (and it kind of was) but walked out knowing they had decided to do away with my position.  What?!?!? This is something that I had done for almost 13 years (not all at the same place, although the start and finish were the same place) and now I was like God why?  What did I do?  Where do I go from here? 

          I had forgotten that God has a plan for my life.  He says so in Jeremiah 29:11-12, “For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the LORD’s declaration—“plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.  You can call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you”

          And he says so again in Proverbs 23:18, “For then you will have a future, and your hope will never fade.”

          Now being raised in the church and working in the church most of my adult life, you would think that knowing God has a plan is the first thing to go through my mind…Ha, nope.  Just the opposite! 

          Now I mentioned before that waiting on that new door to open can be hard. More so for me because I don’t “Hurry up and wait” very well.  If you know me well you can vouch for that!  So I worried, stressed, cried, and talked with my husband, and now that it has been almost 2 weeks since that door closed, I can now see the new door opening slowly…VERY SLOWLY. But it’s all in God’s timing right.  I can see where it is headed and why I was drawn to that door. That’s where God wanted me to go.

          Now we might not be all in the same place as far as the door that closed was a job.  You may have a door close on a relationship, a friendship, a family feud that closed your door, but we are all in the same place as far as waiting on a new door to open.  Some of you may “hurry up and wait” better than I do, but we all know that it is in God’s timing.  Maybe you haven’t reached the new door yet, maybe that door is down another hallway, or even in a new building, but God does have a door waiting on you to walk through.  A door that will lead to bigger and better things.  A door that will be a whole new adventure.  A door that is waiting on you to make that walk up to it. My door….It was in a totally different building and I had to remind myself to trust God to lead me down the path that lead to the door.  Trust in Him that He will walk you down the correct path to your new door and amazing adventure.  Remember He has plans for us all we have to do is have faith and trust in him.

Don't just look outside...Look inside

Today is a special Day.   Today is the awareness for Moebius Syndrome.   What?   You haven’t heard of it?   I hadn’t either until I met my best friend.   She was diagnosed at 6 months old.   So what is Moebius Syndrome?   In shorts, it’s a rare congenital neurological disorder that causes either complete or partial facial paralysis.   While that may be the primary symptom, there are also a number of other things that can be present (like club foot, hearing loss, or limb deformities) So, someone with Moebius Syndrome is gonna physically look differently than those who do not. But should they be treated differently?   Um no not at all. Look on the inside not the outside. No Crying Over Spilled Milk

I sit here at school studying while my class is laying down to get ready for nap time.  I look up and I see that they are all asleep, with peaceful looks on their face.  Total opposite of earlier where we had toys everywhere, spilled milk, milk covered hair and faces, and the not wanting to share attitude. I think about how stressed we (or at least me) can get so quickly over nothing.  This morning I was upset because the milk that was splashed all over the room and himself was my son...the one who knows better.  I was upset...(the teacher's kid is acting out so he is setting the example)… so after a baby wipe bath and a time out all is good....Until he does it again with juice too!
